Mazuri Tortoise Diet is a high-fiber tortoise pellet made for dry land herbivorous tortoises, like sulcata tortoises. This tortoise pellet is a complete pellet that is packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals. Offer Mazuri one to three times a week as a part of a varied diet of grasses, weeds and greens.
There are two types of Mazuri pellets for tortoises – original and LS. The original Mazuri contains a more corn and soybean, but it is often more preferred by tortoises. The LS Mazuri is a low starch pellet that may take tortoises a little getting used to.
But, both types of Mazuri can be a healthy addition to your sulcata tortoise’s diet.
Original Mazuri Tortoise Diet
Original Mazuri Tortoise Diet (5M21) is the more popular type of Mazuri for tortoises. This tortoise pellet contains a high-fiber, natural vitamin E and a natural source of antioxidants. It’s been proven tasty by many sulcata tortoises.
The pellets measure about 1/2-inch by 3/4-inch.
The first three ingredients are ground soybean hulls, ground corn and dehulled soybean meal. Because of the high corn and soybean, many tortoise keepers avoided Mazuri. But, those who have tried Mazuri, have found it a valuable part of a varied diet.
Many sulcata breeders who once spoke poorly about Mazuri, have changed their opinions and now highly praise Mazuri.

Mazuri Tortoise LS Diet
Mazuri Tortosie LS Diet (5E5L) is the newer Mazuri. It is a low starch formula with the same high-fiber content. It also contains vitamin A, natural vitamin E, live probiotics and yucca.
Some tortoises prefer the original Mazuri, but if you continue to offer the LS Diet, even picky tortoises will start to eat it. You can soak it in rose hip or hibiscus water, add dried flowers or crumble it on top of the tortoises favorite food.
The pellets are smaller than the original formula, measuring about 1/4-inch by 1/2-inch. When soaked, these pellets do not expand as large as the original Mazuri.
Mazuri Tortoise LS pellets have less corn and soybean than the original formula. The main ingredient in low starch Mazuri is ground timothy hay, which is a great staple hay for sulcata tortoises.
